I'm organising a coach trip for members to Abbotsbury on Wednesday 3rd June, picking up in Okehampton and Exeter Honiton Road Park and Ride.
The photo is of members who enjoyed their day at the Swannery 16 years ago. Wow, how time flies! Others visited the Gardens but sadly I don't have any photos to share.
The Swannery doesn't open for visitors until March so I can't give a price per person until then. They do have a group discount and as soon as I know what that will be I'll update this page.
Abbotsbury Swannery is home to a colony of over 600 Mute Swans, The best time to visit is in May or June when their chicks are hatching and keeping close to their Mums.
During our visit we were allowed to help in feeding the swans and listened fascinated about the history from when the swannery was established by Benedictine Monks who built a monastery at Abbotsbury during the 1040s.
Most of the Swans in the UK are the property of the King, the exception being those at Abbotsbury.
